Heathrow Airport in London closed

TEXT : Tom Henderson
London Heathrow Airport will remain closed for the entire day on March 21 due to a large-scale power outage caused by a fire at a substation supplying power to the airport. The closure is for the safety of passengers and employees, and travelers are advised not to head to the airport and to contact their airlines for further details. As an international hub airport, there are concerns about the impact on passengers.

The fire at the substation is the cause of the disruption.
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is a major global aviation hub, with airlines operating flights to 228 cities both domestically and internationally, including 11 domestic routes and 217 international routes. Heathrow explained the closure on X (formerly Twitter) as being for "the safety of customers and employees" and urged passengers not to go to the airport and to check with their airlines for further information.
